For years I've donated artwork to raise funds for conservation and other worthwhile causes, the majority are displayed here, along with a couple that were gifts. In my initial paintings I used reference material collected where ever I could find it, old calendars, magazines and books. I was quite naive back then and too excited about painting realism to understand this was plagiarism. Once I learned that it wasn't appropriate I started to photograph my own reference material. As someone who loves being in nature this wasn't hardship for me and has lead to incredible adventures, resulting in thousands of photos (see Photo Gallery). I'd like to thank those photographers who's images I inadvertently borrowed during my initial art development, your work is an inspiration to me. Come late December and early January moose settle in for the winter after a long rut and hunting season and become quite tolerant. When these opportunities arise I like to take the time to studying and photograph these interesting and often companionable ungulates.
